Calcium formate is a white to off-white fine crystalline powder. It acts as an accelerator for pozzolanic cement, shortening initial and final setting time and boosting compressive strength. It raises bound water content, optimizes the gel‑space ratio across hydration stages, and reduces overall porosity.

It also promotes growth in weanling pigs even under E. coli challenge, independent of intestinal adhesion susceptibility. Widely used as a feed additive for young pigs and fattening poultry, it improves growth performance and feed efficiency, and lowers piglet diarrhea incidence.


Product Application of Calcium formate CAS#544-17-2

Calcium formate serves as a preservative for food and silage, a binder for fine ore briquettes, and an ingredient in drilling fluids and lubricants.

As an organic salt, it is ideal for pig and poultry feed. It acts as a feed preservative and gastrointestinal acidifier to sustain intestinal health. By reducing gut pH, it suppresses harmful bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella, improving digestion and lowering enteric disease risks. It can effectively replace prophylactic antibiotics in animal nutrition.
