Sodium Hexametaphosphate, also known as Graham’s salt or vitreous sodium metaphosphate, is a polymeric sodium metaphosphate. It occurs as colorless transparent glassy solid or white powder. It is highly soluble in water with a relatively slow dissolution rate, and its aqueous solution is acidic. Featuring a special polymeric structure and solubility property, it is widely used in water treatment, food processing, detergents and other industrial fields.

Colorimetric determination of phosphorus, magnesium, niobium, copper, silicon and arsenic; polarographic and volumetric assay of iridium; reducing agent for heteropolyacids, copper and gold; detection of phosphate, tungstate, nitrate, nitrite, selenium and tellurium; used as developer, antioxidant, fertilizer desulfurizer and urea synergist.
