Products Description of Acetic acid CAS#64-19-7

Acetic acid (AcOH) is the main component of vinegar, a colorless pungent liquid (mp 16.6 °C, bp 117.9 °C, density 1.049 at 20 °C) miscible with water and most organic solvents. Its anhydrous form (glacial acetic acid) is corrosive and crystallizes at low temperatures. A weak organic acid prone to esterification, it is one of the most important industrial organic acids.

Acetic acid is a core industrial chemical used to produce vinyl acetate, acetic anhydride, acetates and cellulose acetate (for adhesives, fibers, films). Its esters are solvents for coatings/inks; it also serves as a reaction medium, raw material for pharma/agrochemicals, metal acetate precursor, and food acidifier. Corrosive, requiring safe handling.
