Industrial-grade dibutyl sebacate has a purity of ≥99%, appearing as a colorless transparent liquid with a mild odor.It has a melting point of -10°C and a boiling point of 344°C. At 25°C, its vapor pressure is 0.0001 mmHg, and the relative density is 0.94 at 20°C.It is insoluble in water, freely miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene and chloroform, and compatible with most organic solvents.The product is stable under normal storage and use conditions, but should be kept away from strong acids, strong bases and oxidizing agents for incompatibility reasons.


Product Application of Dibutyl sebacate CAS#109-43-3

Dibutyl sebacate (DBS) is the dibutyl ester of sebacic acid, widely used across multiple industries. It is commonly applied in food packaging plastics, medical devices and pharmaceutical products. It also serves as a desensitizer in Otto fuel II, a monopropellant for torpedo systems. In addition, DBS acts as a plasticizer for preparing free ethylcellulose films. It can also be used as the core material of liquid-core capsules. These capsules adopt cross-linked alginate/polyacrylamide membrane prepared by co-extrusion jet-break-up method, and are specially designed for the extraction of pesticide atrazine.
